MINUTES OF A PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
Held in the Village Hall, All Cannings on Wednesday 30 May 2012
PRESENT: Mr. T. Daw, (in the chair),
Mrs. S. Butcher, Mr. C. Butcher, Mr. D. Tilley, Mr. K. Warman,
Mr. A.Gray.
APOLOGIES: Cllr. L. Grundy (WC).
After giving the chairman’s report at the annual parish meeting, Tim Daw resigned as chairman and parish councillor.
Charles Butcher was elected as chairman and Doug Tilley was elected as vice - chairman. The councillors thanked Mr Daw for his services and achievements during
his period of office as chairman and parish councillor.
Charles Butcher chaired the remainder of the meetings.

Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on March 30 2012, having been circulated were confirmed as a true record and signed by the chairman.

REPORTS
Village Community Shop: John Mead had requested the opportunity to report on the
successful year achieved by the community shop. He explained that the shop’s finances were in the black, partly due to increased support from the village utilising the shop and to the grant awarded by the parish council towards improvements.
PCC: The chairman read out the guide lines of the legal requirements set out for the maintenance of the churchyard and the memorials contained in the churchyard.
The subject of action taken by the contractor to some of the gravestones in the churchyard was then discussed.
A statement on behalf of the PCC was read out by David Hobden. They stated that unless the matter is settled it would be pursued by the diocesan authorities, but it is hoped that this situation could be avoided. The council advised that they will commission a survey to be carried out by reputable stone masons.
Cemetery: Nothing to report..
Village Green: Repairs required to some of the play equipment on the green. Quotations to be obtained.
Village Hall: Royal Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: A Village Tea to be held on Monday 4th June. The Committee would be grateful for any input from the Parish Council towards ideas and expenses. Parish Council have assisted in obtaining a grant of £300.00 towards expenses. Village map responsibility of committee.
Glebe Field: Registration as a Village Green confirmed with the exception of the allotments. Trees planted on the triangle, thanks accorded to Tim Daw.
Kennet and Avon: Nothing to report.
All Cannings Primary School: Doug Tilley reported that a working group has been formed to improve the situation regarding cars dropping of and picking up children
with a more systematic procedure to hopefully eliminate the problem.
Jubilee Woodland Project: John Mead reported on the proposals regarding the Jubilee woodland meeting. The proposals were welcomed by all attendees at the meeting. The council agreed in principle to the proposals for the Jubilee woodland to come under the umbrella of the parish council so that it becomes a village asset. Ownership of the land remains with the current owners. Keith Warman to liaise.
