LONGMOOR JUBILEE WOOD, ALL CANNINGS
The Butcher family are establishing a wood on their property on the field known as Longmoor situated to the North of the village. They have been working with the Forestry Commission who are keen to support planting amenity woods on private land. This is a project to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen.
The Butcher family also announced that there would be public access to this wood from the public footpath path running to the Moor past Thornycroft cottage, and Volunteers are welcome to help with the planting.
This project is now live and planting has started. There are some 1500 saplings to be planted now (This is phase one for 2013).
The saplings are native to the UK and many mixed species are being planted including Maple Oak and many colourful varieties including cherry and Rowan.
